The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law is pleased to invite applications for the 2014 Brandon Research Fellowship, which continues to be funded by a generous gift, made in 2009, by Mr Michael Brandon (1923-2012). The Lauterpacht Centre provides a centre for research in Cambridge for legal practitioners and academics from around the world.
The Brandon Research Fellowship is intended to cover a stay of at least eight weeks at the Lauterpacht Centre for International Law and has a maximum value of £3000 (GBP); any additional travel or other expenses will be the responsibility of the selected Fellow. Two awards may be made if the strength of the field warrants it.
The Brandon Fellow will be welcomed as part of the community of Visiting Fellows at the Centre and will undertake their own project research on some aspect of public or private international law or international arbitration. Fellows must produce a report of their work in English at the end of their Fellowship and deposit with the Lauterpacht Centre any publication resulting from the work undertaken during the Fellowship.
Eligibility
- Candidates for the Brandon Fellowship must be fluent in English and at least one of French, German or Spanish.
- Preference will be given to candidates who are nationals of members of the European Union; members of the Commonwealth; Argentina; Brazil; Chile; China; Japan; Panama; Serbia; Switzerland; and the United States of America.
- Candidates must specify a project on some aspect of public or private international law or international arbitration on which they will work while resident at the Lauterpacht Centre.
- This is a Post-Graduate research fellowship. Persons currently enrolled in PhD programs (in the UK or elsewhere) are not eligible to apply unless their final thesis has already been submitted by the closing date for applications.
