The Right Livelihood Award Foundation is hiring a Trainee based in Geneva, to support their Geneva programme and the #AlternativeNobel Laureates who are visiting the city. One of the Geneva Office’s primary purposes is to support their Laureates’ work, as a result they often visit the office and they assist them with events and meetings when they are in Geneva.

This is a full full-time position based in Geneva, for a period of 6 months. Situated in a global hub for civil society, working in our Geneva Office will allow you to experience the broad range of challenges and opportunities facing the Foundation and their Laureates.

Established in 1980, the Right Livelihood Award honours and supports courageous people and organisations offering visionary and exemplary solutions to the root causes of global problems. In total, there are now 170 Laureates from 69 countries. The Right Livelihood Award Foundation sees its role as being the megaphone and shield for the Laureates, and provide them with long-term support. It seeks to help protect those award recipients whose lives and liberty are at risk due to the nature of their activities.

Job Details

Duration:This is a full full-time position for a period of 6 months
Location: Geneva, Switzerland
Starting date: February 1st, 2018
The Gross Salary will be 1,700 CHF/month.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the organisation of events in Geneva.
  • Support the liaison with the Laureates.
  • Update the website with the events involving the Laureates world-wide.
  • Undertake specific administrative and logistic tasks.
  • Contribute to the overall development of the Geneva office of the Right Livelihood Award Foundation.

The Programme Trainee will be an integral part of a highly motivated international team. S/he will report to the Programme Coordinator.

Eligibility

  • University studies (ongoing or finished).
  • Skills and experience in organising logistics and events.
  • Computer skills.
  • Fluency in English and French is required. German would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge about and interest in social, environmental, human rights and/or development questions.
  • Positive can-do attitude and experience working in diverse teams.

Possession of a Swiss work permit, and/or the right to work in the European Union is required.
