Deadline: March 3, 2014

Challenge yourself and apply for the 2014 International VELUX Award. The International VELUX Award for Students of Architecture aims to encourage and challenge students of architecture to explore the theme of daylight in its widest sense  – and to create a deeper understanding of this specific and ever-relevant source of energy and light. The award seeks to challenge the future of daylight in the built environment with an open-minded and experimental approach.

The Award seeks to widen the boundaries of daylight in architecture, including aesthetics, functionality, sustainability, and the interaction between buildings and environment.  “Light of Tomorrow” is the overall theme of the award that celebrates and promotes excellence in completed study works from students all over the world.

Eligibility

The award is open to students of architecture all over the world. The only requirement is that every student or team of students has to be backed by a teacher at a school of architecture. The team may include other students like engineers or designers.

Prizes

The total prize money is 30,000 Euro. The number of prize winners and honourable mentions will be decided by the jury.

  • Ist Prize: Minimum 8,000 Euro for the student(s) and 2,000 Euro for the teacher(s)
  • 2nd Prize: Minimum 4,000 Euro for the students(s) and 1,000 Euro for the teacher(s)
  • Up to ten projects will be shortlisted for honourable mention and an Award trophy. The jury may award special prizes for categories or themes.
