Google is currently offering travel grants to underrepresented groups in technology. These Grants are available in North America for all traditionally underrepresented groups in technology (including, but not limited to, African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, persons with disabilities, women and veterans) and in Europe for women in technology.
Grants/Awards
- Free conference registration
- North America: A $500 prepaid gift card that can be retroactively used toward airfare and accommodation costs, where applicable (will be awarded onsite at the conference)
- Europe: Up to 1000 EUR towards travel and accommodation costs (will be paid after the conference)
Eligibility
To be eligible for a grant to attend a conference in Europe, applicants must:
- Be a woman working in or studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a technical field related to the conference subject (no residency restrictions apply)
- Have a strong academic and/or professional background with demonstrated leadership ability
- Be able to attend the core day(s) of one of the conferences listed below:
- There are no eligible conferences at present. To receive notifications on when new conferences are added, please sign up for the mailing list.
To be eligible for a grant to attend a conference in North America, applicants must:
- Be a resident of North America
- Work in or study Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a technical field related to the conference subject
- Have a strong academic and/or professional background with demonstrated leadership ability
- Be able to attend the core day(s) of one of the conferences listed below:
- USENIX (FAST) Conference on File and Storage Technologies (deadline: December 5, 2014)
- National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) National Conference (deadline: January 9, 2015)
- PyCon (deadline: January 15, 2015)
- IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy 2015 (deadline: February 20, 2015)
- Velocity (deadline: March 4, 2015)
- CVPR: Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition 2015 (deadline: March 13, 2015)
- VLDB: Very Large Database Conference 2015 (deadline: June 15, 2015)
- Conference on Computer and Communications Security, October 2015 (deadline: July 17, 2015)
Application Process
- Complete and submit the following application form
- Recipients will be notified by e-mail approximately 10 weeks prior to the date of the conference. If you are selected, we will contact you with conference registration details and information about how you will receive your prepaid card.
