The International Center for Journalists is looking to recruit a full-time program officer to work on its flagship program, the Knight International Journalism Fellowships. This is an opportunity to participate in a program dedicated to driving news innovation and experimentation worldwide. The program officer will be based in Washington, D.C.
Responsibilities
- Processing applications for new Knight International Journalism Fellows
- Coordinating orientation programs for new Knight International Journalism Fellows
- Assisting with program finances: tracking financial reports, payments to fellows, consultants and sub-grantees
- Maintaining the program’s overall monthly budget
- Maintaining and updating the program database (with intern)
- Coordinating the Knight International Journalism Awards nomination and selection process
- Updating and maintaining spreadsheets to track program activities, results and impact
- Overseeing an intern’s work
- Performing administrative tasks as needed
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in media, international development or communications
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with high-quality results
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-energy, deadline environment
- Experience tracking budgets and finances
- Experience with Excel, Google Drive, and other data-gathering, tracking and analysis tools and applications
- Excellent writing and communication skills (English)
- Experience using social media including Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn preferred
- Experience monitoring and evaluating program results preferred
- Fluency in a language where the program works preferred
