ICFJ seeks a Program Officer for Knight International Journalism Fellowships

The International Center for Journalists is looking to recruit a full-time program officer to work on its flagship program, the Knight International Journalism Fellowships. This is an opportunity to participate in a program dedicated to driving news innovation and experimentation worldwide. The program officer will be based in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Processing applications for new Knight International Journalism Fellows
  • Coordinating orientation programs for new Knight International Journalism Fellows
  • Assisting with program finances: tracking financial reports, payments to fellows, consultants and sub-grantees
  • Maintaining the program’s overall monthly budget
  • Maintaining and updating the program database (with intern)
  • Coordinating the Knight International Journalism Awards nomination and selection process
  • Updating and maintaining spreadsheets to track program activities, results and impact
  • Overseeing an intern’s work
  • Performing administrative tasks as needed

Candidates should have the following qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in media, international development or communications
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with high-quality results
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-energy, deadline environment
  • Experience tracking budgets and finances
  • Experience with Excel, Google Drive, and other data-gathering, tracking and analysis tools and applications
  • Excellent writing and communication skills (English)
  • Experience using social media including Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn preferred
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating program results preferred
  • Fluency in a language where the program works preferred
