The Schwarzman Scholars Program is a landmark scholarship for the defining challenge of our time. The program will bring together 200 of the world’s best and brightest students to work towards a one-year Master’s Degree at Tsinghua University in Beijing—one of China’s most prestigious universities. These scholars will have an incredible range of cultural and academic experiences, from travel throughout China to mentorship with global leaders and experts in their chosen disciplines.
Program Details
Designed to inspire the next generation of global leaders, Schwarzman Scholars is the most significant program of its kind since the Rhodes Trust was founded in 1902. Each student will spend the year focusing on one of four academic disciplines:
- public policy
- economics
- business
- international relations
- engineering
The curriculum was developed in collaboration with academic leaders from Harvard, Yale, Oxford, Duke and other prestigious universities around the world.
Starting with the first class in 2016, Schwarzman Scholars will set a new standard for international study, giving the most talented students a better understanding of the new geopolitical landscape and preparing them for future achievement. And it will inspire constructive engagement among new generations of leaders, who will be profoundly influenced by the bonds, knowledge and exposure they gain in China.

During their stay, students will be given access to a privileged range of cultural and academic experiences, from travel to all corners of China to exchanges with global leaders and mentorship with experts in their chosen discipline.
They will also spend their year immersed in the local economy and social life—before classes begin, a summer orientation will provide opportunities to learn Chinese, explore Beijing and meet fellow students and faculty.

- extracurricular interests
- leadership potential
Taught in English, all courses are designed specifically for an elite class.
