Entries are invited for the Morisawa Type Design Competition 2016. Morisawa Type Design Competition has been giving birth to a new typeface design for decades from the first competition that was held in 1984. Through entries with bold ideas and new attempts in anticipation with unprecedented expressive capacity, the recent competitions held in 2012 and 2014 have received more than 1,000 entries sent from over 20 countries and regions, including both Kanji and Latin category.

Eligibility
- Open to any individual, group or nationality.
Design Format
- Download the application guideline (the competition entry rules and the design format) – Application Guidelines Kanji Category and Application Guidelines Latin Category.
- Submitted designs must conform to the format specifications for the respective category: Sheet 1 – 3 for Kanji category, and Sheet A – B for Latin category.
Application Process
- Begin application by registering.
- Registration and entry submission will open on May 1, 2016 and last till July 31, 2016(JST).
- Entry works must be submitted in a PDF file. No actual pieces sent by mail are accepted.
- No entry fee is charged.
