Call for Applications: Organizing Partners for #Sport4DevelopmentNG Campaign

The Commonwealth Youth Sport for Development and Peace working group (CYSDP) is calling for outstanding young leaders, passionate about, and with expertise, in the field of sport for development and peace (SDP), to support its #Sport4DevelopmentNG advocacy Campaign in Nigeria as Organizing Partner and Campus Ambassador.

The #Sport4DevelopmentNG advocacy Campaign aims at promoting the instrumentality of Sports as tool for achieving humanitarian, peace-building and development objectives. The Campaign also aims at mobilizing support and actions for the Nigeria Sports Bill which advocate for the promotion of Sports for Development and Peace practice in Nigeria. The bill also advocate for the establishment of Sports Institutions and facilities and the establishment of the National Sports Commission.

Duties and responsibilities

Organising Partner

The Organising Partners will work with CYSDP and its partners to support and mobilize actions for the #Sport4DevelopmentNG Campaign in their respective State in the Country.

They will support the Campaign in four key areas:

  • Strategic planning and mobilizing supportthe #Sport4DevelopmentNG Social Media engagement;
  • FacilitatingTown Hall Meetings/Public Forum for the Campaign;
  • Facilitating media engagement of local radio and TV station for the #Sport4DevelopmentNG Campaign;
  • Representing CYSDP #Sport4DevelopmentNG Committee at key events and meetings involving the Campaign.

Campus Ambassadors

The Campus Ambassadors will work with CYSDP and its partners, through their respective Organising Partners, to support and mobilize actions for the #Sport4DevelopmentNG Campaign in their respective Universities/other tertiary Institutions.
Selected Campus Ambassadors will be student leaders, Graphics designers, Campus Journalists, Athletes/Sport men and women (preferably those that have participated in Nigeria Universities Games), Sport Secretaries of Students’ Union etc.

They will support the Campaign in four key areas:

  • Strategic planning and mobilizing support for the #Sport4DevelopmentNG Social Media engagement in their respective Campuses;
  • Facilitating Public Forum for the campaign in their respective Campuses;
  • Facilitating friendly Inter-Campuses and Intra-Campus advocacy Football Matches and other SDP initiatives to advocate and mobilize support for the Nigeria Sports Bill;
  • Representing CYSDP #Sport4DevelopmentNG Committee at key events, media engagement and meetings involving the Campaign.

  • Open to outstanding young leaders, passionate about, and with expertise, in the field of sport for development and peace
