Applications are open for the Fields-IAMS-Perimeter – Africa Postdoctoral Fellows Program 2019. This fellowship is a unique position intended for new and recent PhDs who are African nationals working in the areas of mathematical sciences or fundamental theoretical physics. The goal is to support the careers of young researchers who have a commitment to advance science in Africa.
The Fields Institute is a centre for mathematical research activity – a place where mathematicians from Canada and abroad, from academia, business, industry and financial institutions, can come together to carry out research and formulate problems of mutual interest. Their mission is to provide a supportive and stimulating environment for mathematics innovation and education.
Benefit
- The selected fellow will be invited to pursue their research either at the Fields Institute, Perimeter Institute, or jointly at both institutions, depending on the fellows’ research interests.
Eligibility
- Open to recent PhDs who are African nationals working in areas of mathematical sciences or fundamental theoretical physics. Perimeter’s areas of strength include classical gravity, condensed matter theory, cosmology, particle physics, quantum fields and strings, quantum foundations, quantum information, and quantum gravity.
