APWLD is a regional network of women’s organisations and activists in Asia Pacific, committed to women’s human rights and feminist movements. APWLD’s members are drawn from 27 countries and the Secretariat is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand with a satellite office based in Penang, Malaysia.

Positions

APWLD is currently inviting women from Asia Pacific countries (specifically from the sub-regions of the Pacific, East Asia, Central Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia) with relevant experience and skills to apply for the following six exciting positions:

1. Programme Officer for APWLD’s Migration Programme
2. Programme Officer for APWLD’s Breaking Out Of Marginalisation (BOOM) Programme
3. Programme Officer for APWLD’s Climate Justice Programme
4. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
5. Research and Publication Associate
6. Programme Associate

The successful applicants will work with their committed Secretariat to support a powerful network of women’s rights organisations, movements and activists across the region.

Selection Criteria for Programme Officers (Migration, Climate Justice and BOOM programmes)

1. Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia Pacific. Experience in working with a movement-based organisation such as feminist movements,  indigenous peoples, farmers, migrants, workers, fisherfolk, dalits, LBTQI, or other movements is an asset;
2. Experience and knowledge of (feminist),  participatory action research with grassroots organisations and their communities;
3. A degree in law; social and political sciences; human rights, economics, development, environment or women’s studies;
4. Minimum of five years’ experience in development work and women’s rights at the national, regional level or international level;
5. Knowledge of international human rights, migration, land rights, climate and environment, and development issues in Asia Pacific;
6. In-depth understanding of the political, economic and socio-cultural environments in the region.  Experience in policy analysis is an asset;
7. Experience in organising and facilitating training/capacity building activities;
8. High level project management such as  programme planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation;
9. Experience in sub-grant management is an asset;
10. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership driven network;
11. Excellent command of English language, both oral and written and demonstrated ability to write for movements as well as program reports and project proposals.    Proficiency in another language other than English is an asset;
12. Good interpersonal skills, with ability to network in a multi-cultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders;
13. Proficient ICT skills – familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite and Dropbox is preferred;
14. Must be able to travel overseas as required.

Selection Criteria for Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

1. Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia Pacific;
2. A degree in social and political sciences; human rights, women’s studies or other relevant disciplines;
3. Minimum of five years’ experience in development work and women’s rights at the national, regional level or international level;
4. Experience and knowledge of feminist monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) approaches and methods.  Experience in feminist MEL system design and implementation is an asset;
5. Proven knowledge on different monitoring and evaluation frameworks and tracking tools is an asset;
6. In-depth understanding of the political, economic and socio-cultural environments in the region;
7. High level project management skills including programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
8. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership driven network;
9. Excellent command of English language, both oral and written and demonstrated ability to write for movements as well as program reports and project proposals.    Proficiency in another language other than English is an asset;
10. Good interpersonal skills, with ability to network in a multi-cultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders;
11. Proficient ICT skills – familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite and Dropbox is preferred;
12. Must be able to travel overseas as required.

Selection Criteria for Research and Publication Associate and Programme Associate

1. Demonstrated commitment to the promotion of women’s human rights in Asia Pacific;
2. A degree in law; social and political sciences; human rights, development,  communication, or women’s studies;
3. Minimum of two years’ experience in development work or women’s human rights at the national, regional or international level.  Experience in working with grassroots women human rights defenders and/or their network is an asset;
4. Experience in desk research, legal research, qualitative and quantitative research skills, and capacity to analyse and critique economic, social and development policies;
5. Experience and knowledge of (Feminist) Participatory Action Research (PAR) and participatory facilitation with grassroots organisations and their communities is an asset;
6. Knowledge of project management such as programme planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation is an asset;
7. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse, membership driven network;
8. Excellent command of English language, both oral and written and demonstrated ability to write research or activity reports.  Proficiency in another language other than English is an asset;
9. Good interpersonal skills, with ability to network in a multi-cultural environment and to develop strong professional relationships with members and other stakeholders;
10. Proficient ICT skills – familiarity in using online shared platforms such as Google Suite and Dropbox is preferred;
11. Must be able to travel overseas as required.
