Deadline: July 19, 2020

Applications for the Pulitzer Center/Diversify Photo Eyewitness Photojournalism Grant 2020 are now open. The Eyewitness Photojournalism Grant is a series of reporting grants for freelance photojournalists, to support underreported stories told by journalists historically underrepresented in the American press.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the grant will prioritize stories told locally in the United States, with minimal travel required. Stories should cover the systemic, underreported issues of our time, including police brutality, the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable communities, environmental racism, food insecurity, the opioid crisis, and beyond.

Grant

  • Grants will be awarded at $1,000 each.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be freelance photojournalists currently based in the United States and proposals must be accompanied by a letter of commitment from a news outlet with significant reach.
  • In addition to DPxPC funding, they expect news outlets to contribute to the cost of reporting these stories.
  • Applications must be received in English. There is no application fee.

Application

The application will be open from June 19, 2020, in honor of Juneteenth, and will close July 19, 2020.
