Deadline: September 10, 2020
Applications are open for the Policy Competition 2020. The Policy Competition was conceived as a platform for the grooming and harvesting of ideas on solving some of Nigeria’s developmental challenges from its youth population.
The topic for this year’s competition is Improving the Equality of Tertiary Education in Nigeria.
Tertiary education in Nigeria leaves a lot to be desired. From incessant industrial actions by academic and non-academic staff to low quality research outputs, the tertiary education system is fraught with a history of underperformance and waning influence in the global academic community such that Nigeria’s best performance in the global ranking web of universities is a lowly 1249th position.
What must be done to restore the glory of the Nigerian institutions? A high quality entry must present ideas on sustainable funding model for institutions, enhancing linkages between the institutions and the economy and higher quality research outputs anchored on citations in reputable international journals. The selection panels will particularly reward bold but feasible ideas that recognize the nuances of the Nigerian environment and offer proposals on buy-in of stakeholders.
