The African Population & Health Research Center (APHRC) is recruiting for several vacant positions. 1. Quantitative Data Analyst
The APHRC invites applications for Quantitative Data Analyst in its Scaling Sexual and Reproductive Health Solutions project in Kenya. The project aims to review the implementation of Kenya’s Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy 2015.
Qualifications and experience
- Master’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Epidemiology, Public Health or equivalent.
- Knowledge in statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets (g. STATA, R software).
- Experience in GIS data analysis and mapping as well as in data visualizations using MS Excel or other tools.
- At least 5 years of working experience as a data analyst.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of data/information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written communication skills.

2. Qualitative Data Analyst
The APHRC invites applications for Qualitative Data Analysts in its Scaling Sexual and Reproductive Health Solutions project in Kenya. The project aims to review the implementation of Kenya’s Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy 2015.
Qualifications and competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in any Social Science or equivalent.
- Proficiency with one or more statistical analysis software packages, such as NVivo, for data management and analysis.
- At least two years’ experience in qualitative data analysis using content analysis, including the application of conceptual frameworks, codebook development, and coding.
- Experience performing rapid qualitative analysis.
- Excellent report writing skills and experience in producing high-quality reports on outcomes of qualitative analysis.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Experience working on health and/or social science research projects.
- Understanding of basic concepts of confidentiality and data security.

3. Transcribers
The APHRC invites applications for Transcribers in its Scaling Sexual and Reproductive Health Solutions project in Kenya. The project aims to review the implementation of Kenya’s Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health Policy 2015.
Minimum qualifications required
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree.
- Proficient in English and Swahili, (oral and written).
- Previous experience in transcribing qualitative interviews.
- Typing speed of 60WPM and above.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines without supervision.
- Self-discipline and ability to submit self-edited, high-quality work.
- Experience in conducting and coding qualitative data is an added advantage.

4. Research Officer
The APHRC seeks to recruit a Research Officer to support work on the the Countdown 2030’s project activities, particularly in Kenya.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in any of the following areas: population studies/demography, statistics, epidemiology, economics or related discipline.
- At least two years’ post-Masters’ qualification experience in a research setting.
- Proven quantitative skills, with familiarity with related analysis packages STATA, SPSS, R.
- Experience analyzing routine health facility data (DHIS2) and national health surveys (DHS, MICS, SMART, PMA, SPA).
- Experience conducting field research and managing data collection teams.
- Experience in engaging policy makers and key stakeholders with research evidence.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, juggle tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to work in a culturally diverse team.
- Must be able to communicate and write in English. Knowledge of French will be a plus.

5. Copy Editor and Graphic Designer – Carta Curriculum and ToT Materials
The Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) is a collaboration jointly led by the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), Kenya, and the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), South Africa. CARTA seeks the services of a team consisting of persons who can carry out the following:
- Professionally edit Curriculums and Training of Trainers documents.
- To do graphic designed work and present a web-based series of curriculums.
