Submit entries for the Istanbul Photo Awards 2023. The Istanbul Photo Awards is an international news photography contest organized by Anadolu Agency, global news agency for more than 100 years. The contest aims to contribute to the sphere of news photography and offers a perspective shaped by the region’s unique position at the center of diverse cultures.

The awards reward endeavors of courageous and talented professional photographers from around the world on merit. Istanbul Photo Awards has become one of the most widely known news photography contests in the world.

Categories

  • Single News: All news related, single image applications. Only 1 image can be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 4 different images.
  • Story News: All news related image series applications. 10 images must be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 2 different stories.
  • Single Sports: All sports related, single image applications. Only 1 image can be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 4 different images.
  • Story Sports: All sports related image series applications. 10 images must be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 2 different stories.
  • Single Nature & Environment: All nature and environment related, single image applications. Only 1 image can be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 4 different images.
  • Story Nature & Environment: All nature and envionment related image series applications. 10 images must be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 2 different stories.
  • Single Portrait: All portrait related, single image applications. Only 1 image can be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 4 different images.
  • Story Portrait: All portrait related image series applications. 10 images must be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 2 different stories.
  • Single Daily Life: All daily life related, single image applications. Only 1 image can be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 4 different images.
  • Story Daily Life: All daily life related image series applications. 10 images must be submitted per application. Photographers may apply 2 different stories.

Prizes

  • Single News 1st prize winner will be nominated as “Photo of the Year”, the laureate receives $6,000 USD in total.
  • First prize winners from other categories get $3,000 each.
  • Second prize winners from all categories get $1,500 each.
  • Third prize winners from all categories get $1,000 each.

Eligibility

  • Open for professional photographers. Professional photographers are those who earn, or have earned, the majority of their income from photography, and who sell or publish their work regularly, and belong to professional photography organizations.
  • The contest is open for photographers both freelancer and under the name of a company/agency. Freelancers can add company name for each submission at the INSERT IMAGE tab.
  • There are no rules for the devices but, all inserted photographs must be high-resolution.
  • The contest is only open for individual applications. Team applications are not allowed.
  • Every submitted photo must be taken in 2022 (January 1, 2022 – December 31, 2022). Photographers may submit both published and unpublished photos.

The deadline for application is January 15, 2023, at 23:59 UTC+3.
