Applications are open for the CT Caribbean Climate Journalism Awards 2023. This competition aims to recognise and celebrate outstanding journalism focused on climate change and environmental issues within the Caribbean region. They invite passionate journalists, storytellers, and communicators to participate and showcase their work, driving awareness and inspiring positive action in the face of climate challenges.
By participating in the Caribbean Climate Journalism Awards, you have the opportunity to make a difference. Your compelling stories can inspire policy changes, raise awareness, and mobilise communities to take action against climate change. Moreover, finalists and winners will receive recognition and valuable networking opportunities.
Categories
Five awards in five different categories are up for grabs:
- Best Climate Justice Story – Recognising a journalist who has successfully drawn-out unique climate justice angles for humanised Caribbean stories that have not been told on a large scale before.
- Best Investigative Climate Journalism – Recognising outstanding investigative reporting that has uncovered critical issues related to climate change in the Caribbean region.
- Best Youth Climate Reporter – Honouring the exceptional work of journalists between the ages of 18 and 24 who have contributed significantly to climate reporting.
- Best Solutions-Oriented Climate Reporting – Acknowledging journalism that focuses on practical solutions and innovations addressing climate challenges in the Caribbean.
- Best Climate Photography – This category recognizes exceptional multi-media practitioners that capture the essence of climate change and its effects in the Caribbean region.
Award
- Each awardee will receive USD$400, be spotlighted across Climate Tracker’s network and communities, and be recognised at the virtual award ceremony in December 2023.
Eligibility
- Open to journalists, writers, photographers, videographers, and multimedia creators from the Caribbean region, eager to contribute to the discourse on climate change and environmental conservation.
- Whether you are a seasoned professional or an emerging talent, they encourage you to submit your best work and be part of this movement.
- Submitted stories must have been published in 2022 or 2023.
