Applications are open for the Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest 2024. The Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest was established on December 22, 2014 by Rossiya Segodnya under the patronage of the Russian Federation’s Commission for UNESCO. The Stenin Contest is the only competition in Russia that discovers new names in international photojournalism and develops quality standards for documentary photography. The contest is aimed at supporting young photo journalists aged 18 to 33 in their striving for top professionalism. This year the contest celebrates its 10th anniversary.
The contest offers young photojournalists an opportunity to make their concerns known. The main themes of the contest include global humanitarian challenges, national identity, social equality and the environment. The number of contest participants and the countries they come from has been growing every year. The contest itself is gaining popularity also thanks to the exhibitions of the winning entries, which have become an integral part of the event. They have been held in dozens of countries, including China, South Africa, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Turkey, Lebanon, Germany, Spain, Italy, Greece, Hungary and Poland.

Prizes
- Grand Prix – RUB 700,000 (seven hundred thousand)/about USD $9,000.
- First Place for one photo image/series of images in each category – RUB 125,000 (one hundred and twenty-five thousand)/about USD $1,300.
- Second Place for one photo image/series of images in each category – RUB 100,000 (one hundred thousand)/about USD $1,100.
- Third Place for one photo image/series of images in each category – RUB 75,000 (seventy-five thousand)/about USD $900.
- Contest Sponsors may also offer additional prizes.
Eligibility
- Open to young photojournalists;
- Be between 18 to 33 years of age;
- They may be from anywhere around the world;
- Photographs must have been taken after January 1, 2023. In exceptional cases, series of photographs started in previous years are accepted. In such case, the last photograph of the series must have been taken in 2023 or 2024.
- Entries can contain a single photograph or series of no more than 12 photographs. Minor cropping, or balance (white balance) or density (brightness, contrast) correction is acceptable. Framed images, collages, photos that have been significantly photoshopped, with parts of the image edited, deleted or replaced with a different image, will not be accepted.
- Photos will be uploaded in the JPG format. The acceptable compression will not exceed 10. The image is to be no less than 2,200 pixels and no more than 5,700 pixels by its longer side.
- The file name must contain the serial number of the photograph, name and last name of the author, title and year it was shot, separated by underscores, for example: 01_Smith_James_The_Spring_2011. The name of the file must be given in Latin script. The file size must not exceed 20 Mb. The file must also contain all the EXIF data.
Application
Entries are uploaded and stored by the participant on his or her personal page at STENINCONTEST.COM. Photos can be added or replaced until the participant submits the entry. After the entry is submitted, photos can no longer be added or replaced.
