Halcyon Latin America & the Caribbean Climate Fellowship 2024

Applications are open for the Halcyon Latin America & the Caribbean Climate Fellowship 2024. The program brings together founders from across Latin America & the Caribbean, empowering them to address climate challenges through Renewable Energy, Green Building, Climate Data, Agriculture, WaterTech, and Blue Economy solutions.

Gain expert training, critical resources to accelerate your venture, a one-week in-person residency in Washington, DC, and a one-week in-person residency in Mexico City, Mexico. The Latin America & the Caribbean Climate Fellowship is run with support from Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Program Structure

  • Cohort of up to 10 ventures founded by entrepreneurs from across Latin America and the Caribbean, working in the climate space. Ventures receive training in Halcyon’s methodology on product-market fit, investment readiness, and leadership.
  • Program is delivered through:
    • One virtual kickoff meeting
    • A one week Washington, DC residency 
    • Monthly virtual meetings 
    • A one week Mexico City residency

Benefits

Each program includes specific benefits to fellows. Fellows accepted into this program will receive the following:

  • A $5,000 USD per venture equity-free stipend to use toward travel expenses to attend the residencies
  • One week long residency at Halcyon’s facilities in Georgetown, Washington, DC
  • One week long residency in Mexico City with a culminating event featuring pitches from each venture and connections to investors, advisors, and media  
  • Bespoke training on:
    • Product-market fit
    • Investment readiness
    • Leadership
  • Skills development and mentorship  
  • Honing storytelling and pitching
  • Connections to relevant impact investors
  • $10,000 USD in Amazon Cloud credits  
  • A worldwide community of over 450 impact driven entrepreneurs

Eligibility

They are looking for (for-profit) startups that are building scalable solutions that are tackling challenges related to Climate change.

  • Location: Must have your venture based in and/or serving Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Stage: Must have a Minimum Viable Product that has the potential to scale 
  • Team: 
    • May apply with up to one co-founder
    • Applicant must be the CEO and/or hold primary decision-making power
    • Must be fluent in English
    • Must be at least 21 years of age by the start of the program
  • Program Engagement: Must be able to participate in all activities and programming sessions 
  • Impact: Must be developing a product and venture which contributes towards 1 or more of the UN’s 17 SDGs

In addition to eligibility, Halcyon scores each application based on 4 criteria: Impact, Scalability, Innovation, and Talent.
