Deadline: June 9, 2024

Applications for the Non-trivial Fellowship Program 2024 are now open. This is an 8-week online fellowship for young people to start an impactful research, policy, or entrepreneurial project. The Non-Trivial Fellowship enables talented young people to tackle crucial social issues. If you’re accepted, you’ll join the program, with expert guidance to get you making a difference right away.

Non-Trivial is a non-profit enabling ambitious teenagers to start solving the world’s most pressing problems.
Many bright young people are already capable of having an extraordinary impact on the world. And if you fail, starting now can allow you to learn a lot, meet world-class collaborators, and accelerate your career. They exist to help young people work out how they can chart a path to making their mark on the world, starting from today.

Benefits

Prizes are awarded based on which projects have made the most progress, show the most promise for impact, and were best presented in their Demo Day presentations. These prizes will be awarded in addition to the scholarship all fellows receive.

There are three prizes on offer:

  • First place will receive a $15,000 grant award.
  • Second place, which will be awarded twice, will receive a $5,000 grant award.
  • Third place, which will be awarded 5 times, will receive a $1,000 grant award.

Eligibility

Applicants are eligible if they:

  • Are teenagers between 14-20 years;
  • Haven’t started university;
  • Are located anywhere in the world.

Selection Criteria

They empower some of this generation’s sharpest thinkers to use their talents to address vexing social challenges. They look for applicants who demonstrate:

  • World-changing ambitions: Producing a meaningful improvement in humanity’s plight is not trivial – it will likely take decades of hard work. They look for those with the resolve to make a difference over the long term.
  • Critical thinking: They look for applicants who are able to think deeply and analytically about complex problems. You can demonstrate this with the quiz and critical thinking tasks in our application.
  • Curiosity: How could you do the most good? The answer to this question is non-obvious and constantly changing. They look for the drive to determine how the world works, and what you can do to change it.

Application

  • Online application: Tell them about yourself and test yourself with their problem-solving quiz. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so the earlier you apply the earlier you find out if you’re accepted to the next stage.
  • Video Interview: They will get to know you better by discussing your thoughts on the world’s most pressing problems, what you already know about your career plans, and potential project ideas (though you don’t need to prepare anything). They will also answer any questions you have.
