Grow your game-changing justice innovation into an impactful business by applying for the Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL) Justice Accelerator 2024. The Justice Accelerator is HiiL’s flagship innovation programme that funds, trains and scales a global cohort of justice startups each year. Since 2011, they have successfully funded, trained and scaled over 110 startups globally. They are the only accelerator world-wide dedicated to justice and SDG16.
During Demo Day, innovators present unique solutions for addressing the justice gap in their respective countries and communities. In 2023, they went beyond the borders of a typical Demo Day. “Tech the Justice Gap” is event that showcased the startups that concluded their latest Justice Accelerator programme and invited diverse stakeholders to explore how technology could revolutionise the justice landscape to make it more accessible, affordable, and easy-to understand for all.
This year, the accelerator is focused on the most pressing challenges according to their Justice Needs and Satisfaction surveys in focus countries. They are looking for startups who have innovative solutions to prevent or resolve these challenges:
- Nigeria: domestic violence, neighbours, land, crime, housing
- Tunisia, Iraq and Palestine: employment and SMEs
- Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Ethiopia: crime, mSMEs, sexual gender-based violence

Eligibility
Startups from MENA, Kenya and Nigeria who have:
- People-centred solutions that prevent or resolve justice problems;
- A functioning product with some traction (number of users, revenue, etc.) indicating proof of customer demand. Startups in earlier stages are encouraged to contact their respective regional innovation hubs to find out about our ideation and incubation programmes;
- A strong team of founder(s);
- A revenue model;
- Ambition to scale beyond the immediate target market.
