Applications are open for the David Donald Fellowship for Data Journalism 2025. The fund is designed to support computer-assisted reporting training to university educators so that they can better equip their students to be effective watchdogs through the use of data. It provides assistance to attend a Data Journalism Bootcamp, or the NICAR Conference, March 6-9, 2025.
The fund is named after the late David Donald, a former Investigative Reporters & Editors (IRE) training director who spread the gospel of computer-assisted reporting to thousands of journalists, educators and students around the world.

- Choice of attending the NICAR Conference, an Educator Data Journalism Bootcamp or a Data Journalism Bootcamp:
- For the NICAR conference: complimentary conference registration, up to Four hotel nights, travel stipend ($500)
- For the bootcamps: boot camp registration ($800 value), travel stipend ($500).
Eligibility
- Open to Journalism educators who teach data journalism and investigative reporting.
- Applicants can be from any country of the world.

- Link to CV
- Include in CV or in application: List of data journalism and investigative reporting courses taught in the past and list of continuing education/professional development training received.
- Description of how the educator will put the training to use for students.
