Applications are open for the United Nations FAO Young Forest Champions Initiative 2025. The Young Forest Champions Initiative, under the AIM4Forests programme, is a dynamic initiative designed to empower youth in Kenya, Zambia, Uganda, Ghana, and Peru to take on leadership roles in forest conservation and climate action.

Be one of 10 young leaders in your country to join a global network of changemakers, working together to safeguard forests, combat climate change, and build a better future. If you’re passionate about making a difference, this is your opportunity to take action!

Benefits

  • This initiative provides mentorship, training, and hands-on experience to young people passionate about restoring forests, monitoring ecosystems using advanced technologies like remote sensing, and protecting vital landscapes.

Eligibility

To apply, you must:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application.
  • Be a current university student or recent graduate.
  • Reside in Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Ghana, or Peru.
  • Have an intermediate or higher proficiency in English.
  • Have a reliable internet connection to participate in the initiative.
  • Commit to full participation in the initiative activities throughout 2025.

Young women and men, individuals from Indigenous groups, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Knowledge of forestry issues and volunteer work with local communities will be an asset.
