Applications are open for the National Geographic Society Slingshot Challenge 2025. This is your chance to earn up to USD 10,000 in funding towards an awesome cause. If you’re 13-18 years old and passionate about your environment and community, submit a 1-minute video showcasing your innovative solution to a pressing environmental problem. Your ideas have the power to slingshot our planet forward!

The National Geographic Society believes that changing the future of conservation begins with small steps: with great ideas that drive impact in YOUR community. They believe that together, our ideas and actions will add up to progress protecting our planet and improving our future.

Benefits

  • Successful applicants stand the chance to receive up to $10,000 in funding.

Eligibility

  • Open to applicants who are 13-18 years old and are passionate about their environment and community;
  • Participation in the Challenge can be as an individual person or a team of a maximum of six (6) people.

Application

  • Join: Register for the challenge on Videos For Change. If you’re under 18, you’ll need a guardian’s email and their consent to participate.
  • Get Inspired: Explore Videos For Change to see example Slingshot Challenge submission videos and download the challenge toolkits.
  • Dream: Get started on your idea. Sign up for a workshop, where you can brainstorm ideas, get answers to questions, and connect with like-minded peers across the world.
  • Submit: Create and submit your 1-minute video detailing your idea for the chance to receive up to $10,000 in funding to bring it to life.
