Deadline: February 28, 2025

Applications are open for the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP) Nonresident Fellowship Program 2025-2026. TIMEP’s Nonresident Fellowship Program carves out a space for and invests in individuals whose work advances the transparent, accountable, and just societies that TIMEP is committed to fostering. The program brings together young and mid-career advocates and experts from and in the region and provides them with the toolkit to bring about transformative change.

The 2025-2026 cohort will be made up of eight to 12 advocates, researchers, journalists, and lawyers based in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region or with significant ties to it.

As members of the 2025-2026 cohort, nonresident fellows will:

  • Have the opportunity to produce solutions-oriented and policy-relevant programming and analysis that reflects priorities and developments on-the-ground within a mandate of their choosing;
  • Access targeted and personalized skills-building opportunities;
  • Collaborate and exchange with like-minded individuals from across the region and across theme as part of a fellowship cohort;
  • Be integrated into TIMEP’s global and regional network of organizations, advocates, and policymakers; and
  • Drive the discourse through media, policy, and event opportunities.

Scope

  • The fellowship term will have a duration of 12 months, beginning in mid-May 2025. The position is a nonresident one. This opportunity is not an academic or scholarly research fellowship.
  • The fellow will receive a stipend commensurate with experience. While nonresident fellows are not employed or compensated in a full-time capacity, they are considered key TIMEP members and are well-integrated into the team. A typical nonresident fellowship workload involves ~15-20 hours per month.

Eligibility

  • At least five years of relevant work or academic experience in a field related to the proposed area of focus;
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Arabic;
  • Demonstrated commitment to TIMEP’s mission and principles;
  • Connectivity to civil society, grassroots groups, and/or experts and advocates on-the-ground.

Application

To apply, candidates should submit the following:

  • Resume or curriculum vitae
  • Cover letter (the cover letter should include the applicant’s proposed mandate and a brief explanation of the topic and its importance)

Applications should be submitted in English, via the Google Form no later than February 28, 2025.
