Y Combinator Summer Fellows Grants 2025 ($20,000 grants)

Deadline: March 28, 2025

Applications are open for the Y Combinator Summer Fellows Grants 2025. This summer, Y Combinator will be giving grants to college students to work on their own technical projects.

They want technical college students to spend this summer building interesting technical projects, so they are giving them grants to do it. They hope this will encourage the smartest students to indulge their intellectual curiosity instead of doing intern grunt work. Now is the best time ever to do this — AI models keep pushing the limits of what’s possible to build, and AI tools are rapidly making programmers more productive. The returns to spending a summer building things at the edge of your programming ability have never been higher.

Benefits

  • The grants will be $20,000 in cash and $90,000 in compute credits from Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google GCP.
  • Summer Fellows will also be invited to YC’s AI Startup School June 16 – 17, and they will also hold some special events.

Eligibility

  • Any undergraduate computer science or engineering college student, including freshmen and students outside the US.
  • They will consider undergraduate students with different majors if they can show they’re extremely technical e.g. impressive open-source contributions.

Application

If this sounds interesting, you can apply for it. The next step will be a 15-minute online video interview at the end of March, after which they will make their decisions.
