Entries are invited for the Makifaa Lens on Africa Challenge 2025. Makifaa, the African imagery stock dedicated to authentic storytelling, invites photographers to participate in the Lens on Africa Challenge 2025. Submit your best high‑quality photos that capture the modern, diverse and dynamic spirit of Africa from street scenes and portraits to cultural traditions and innovation.
Africa’s image is too often confined to outdated clichés. This challenge aims to:
- Break stereotypes
- Empower African creators
- Add 10,000 new images that truly represent Africa
Categories
Submit your best images in one of these categories:
- Portrait — Capture emotion and humanity (expressions, daily life moments)
- Street Photography — Showcase authentic urban life (street scenes, spontaneous interactions)
- Travel — Highlight the vibrancy of African cities (modern architecture, cityscapes)
- Culture & Traditions — Celebrate living heritage (festivals, crafts, dance)
- Food Photography — Spotlight Africa’s rich cuisine (traditional dishes, markets)
- Fashion — Illustrate creativity and modern style (fashion trends, lifestyle)
Prizes
- Launch Bonus: $35 for the first 10 contributors with 100 approved images
- Weekly Challenge: $50 to the contributor with the most approved images each week
- Top 3 Finalists (over 3 months):
- 1st Place: $500
- 2nd Place: $350
- 3rd Place: $250
Eligibility
- Open to photographers, photo‑models and visual creatives worldwide who produce original images representing Africa.
- You must own full rights to all submitted images
- Images must be high-quality, authentic, and not AI-generated
- Respect privacy and model release requirements
- No violent, sexual, or stereotypical content
Application
- Create a contributor account on Makifaa
- Upload your images (minimum 3,000×2,000 px, JPG/PNG)
- Add a clear title, description, and relevant keywords
- Wait for approval (typically within 48 hours)
