Applications are open for the TWAS Grants for Cooperation on Sustainability Science with CAS-TWAS Centres of Excellence 2025. Through the support of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the CAS-TWAS Network for Sustainable Development, TWAS and CAS have established a new programme offering grants for collaborative projects under the umbrella of the SDGs. This opportunity is open to one or more TWAS Members or TWAS Young Affiliates to cooperate with one of the CAS-TWAS Centres of Excellence.
While the aim of the grant is to support mainly in-person collaborative projects through research visits and/or student exchanges, up to 30% of the total funds can be used for equipment and/or consumables. The grant may also support participation in a training workshop at the collaborating CAS-TWAS Centre of Excellence.
Grant
- Up to six grants in total are available, one per Centre of Excellence. Each collaborative grant will be RMB 600,000 in total. Since the supported projects will be two years in duration, RMB 300,000 per year will be provided.
Eligibility
- Collaborative projects should involve the CoE and one or more TWAS Members or TWAS Young Affiliates; however, the leading scientist must not be based in China.
Application
- TWAS Members or TWAS Young Affiliates interested in the grant are welcome to send their CV and research proposal to the contact person of the chosen CoE. Each CoE is responsible to select the most suitable collaborating partner(s) and research proposal, after which both sides will prepare the application together.
- After project approval, CAS will assign the funding to the CoE for the implementation of the research in collaboration with the paired TWAS scientist(s). The CoE will transfer the appropriate amount, according to the approved budget and work plan, to the collaborating partner(s).
- At the end of the two-year project, the CoE and its collaborating partner(s) will submit a final report to TWAS and CAS.
- CV and research proposal from potential candidates should be sent to CoEs no later than June 14, 2025.
