Deadline: June 22, 2025

Applications are open for the Black Youth AI Fellowship 2025. The Black Youth AI Fellowship is an 8-week virtual program designed to equip Black university students in Canada with real-world AI skills, mentorship, and a national network — all for free.

Whether you’re into business, science, design, or the arts — AI is transforming every field. You’ll learn new tools, build real-world projects, and gain the confidence to lead with AI. You don’t need to know how to code. All you need is curiosity, creativity, and commitment to learn.

Program Details

The Black Youth AI Fellowship is a free, national fellowship for Black post-secondary students who want to explore the power of artificial intelligence and gain job-ready digital skills.

In just 8 weeks, you’ll walk away with:

  • Real-World AI Skills: Learn how to use AI tools and applications used in today’s job market
  • Hands-On Experience: Solve real business problems through weekly case studies and a final hackathon
  • Boost in Credentials: A certificate of completion, and a project portfolio that stands out on university applications or job resumes
  • Industry Mentorship: A national network of mentors, peers, industry pros, and future collaborators from across Canada
  • Pathways to What’s Next: Exposure to careers, internships, and entrepreneurial pathways
  • Confidence to turn your curiosity into real-world impact

The program is delivered virtually and accessible to students across Canada. No tech background? No problem. Bring your curiosity and ambition — they will help you with the rest.

Eligibility

  • Open to Black students enrolled in a Canadian college or university (undergraduate or graduate);
  • No tech background needed — all you need is a computer, internet access and a willingness to learn;
  • It’s 100% free, and they will support you with access to the tools you need.

Application

Program Format:

Length: 8 weeks
Dates: July 7 – August 29
Live Sessions: Once a week (120 minutes)
Extras: Weekly team office hours + curated case study readings

Each session includes:

  • Learning from an industry expert and Tribe facilitator
  • A group case study challenge tied to a real-world AI use case
  • Access to tools and support to help you succeed

Final Week: You’ll wrap up with a national hackathon where you apply what you’ve learned to solve a creative AI challenge.
