Applications are open for the PEAR Summer Research Program 2025. The Program for Excellence in African Research (PEAR) is a fully-funded, 9-day STEM summer program run by Massachusetts Institute of Technology students.
Taking place from August 18 – 27 at Greensprings School, Anthony Campus in Lagos, the program brings together 30 students to build hands-on tech projects in teams using Raspberry Pi kits. Led by MIT students Tony Odhiambo and Emmanuela Ilok, PEAR aims to inspire a new generation of African problem-solvers through practical learning, mentorship, and innovation.

Eligibility
- Open to current senior secondary school students (SS1 – SS3/Year 10 – 11);
- Should be able to commute to and from Greensprings every day (based in Lagos for the duration of the program);
- Proficiency in high-school level math and physics;
- Strong interest in STEM and problem-solving;
- Commitment to attend all 9 days (9am-5pm daily), Sunday is free;
- Enthusiasm for learning and collaboration.
