Deadline: February 1, 2026 (Final Deadline)

Applications are open for the Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) Graduate Scholarships 2026. EIT provides fully-funded doctoral (DPhil/PhD) study at the University of Oxford, where graduate students directly contribute to progressing an EIT project. These projects tackle global challenges through cutting-edge technology, offering graduate students the chance to collaborate with world-leading experts to develop innovative solutions.

The EIT graduate opportunities are highly competitive. EIT is looking for exceptionally talented individuals with the skills and expertise to contribute significantly to their projects. They are particularly interested in students with skills in fields such as computer science, artificial intelligence, economics, mathematics, robotics, plant sciences, machine learning, chemistry, biology, engineering, medicine or microbiology. Graduate scholarships applicants must demonstrate skills aligned with their chosen EIT Project.

EIT PhD Projects

EIT Graduate Scholars will work on PhD projects that directly contribute to the research and innovation programs at EIT. As such, they will span one or more of the following Humane Endeavours, which provide focus areas for what EIT is trying to solve:

  • Health, Medical Science & Generative Biology
  • Food Security & Sustainable Agriculture
  • Clean Energy Generation & Storage
  • Artificial Intelligence & Robotics

They will bring their relevant skills, experiences or interests in areas such as AI & data, economics & policy, generative biology, robotics, engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, computer science, mathematics, medicine or law into their PhD projects.

Eligibility

Applicants will need to meet the University of Oxford’s entry requirements for their chosen doctoral course.

They must:

  • Have, or be on track to be awarded, the relevant qualification(s) required by the University of Oxford,
  • Have met, or be on track to meet, the grade requirements for their chosen doctoral course and
  • Have met, or be on track to meet, the University’s English language requirements for their chosen doctoral course.

Applicants who do not meet these criteria are strongly dissuaded from applying for the scholarships.

Application

Applications for EIT Graduate Scholarships are now open. First deadline of applications is October 1, 2025 and the final deadline is February 1, 2026. EIT strongly encourage candidates to apply by October 1 deadline, as they may close applications once all places are filled.
