Applications are open for the University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program 2025/2026. The University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program offers postdoctoral research fellowships, professional development and faculty mentoring to outstanding scholars in all fields whose research, teaching, and service will advance the research excellence and public service missions of the UC. The University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program awards approximately 30 postdoctoral fellowships annually.
The award is intended to provide focused research time for the scholar to establish their independent research program and to prepare for the professoriate through participation in program activities. Fellows may hold or apply for other fellowship awards or other forms of support concurrent with this fellowship under the condition that requirements for both awards are met.
Award
- The University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program awards approximately 30 postdoctoral fellowships annually in all fields for research conducted under faculty sponsorship on any one of the University of California’s ten campuses. The fellowship provides a salary at $69,073 and $5,000 for research expenses and professional development. The award also includes benefits (health, vision and dental), paid sick leave, family/medical leave, and 4 weeks of paid time off during the fellowship term.
Eligibility
Open to all scholars holding terminal degrees in their discipline. Applicants will be considered who:
- Are engaged in new fields of research; or
- engage in innovative approaches to research in existing fields; or
- have developed scholarly perspectives or work on research topics that differ from those currently available in the University of California campus department where they would be placed to pursue this opportunity; or
- whose life experiences and educational background would help to broaden the perspectives represented in the faculty of the University of California.
Application
All applications submitted to the University of California President’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Program that are highly ranked will be included in the competition for Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Programs on the UC campus where the proposed UC faculty mentor is located.
