Applications are open for the Black Entrepreneurship Program Ecosystem Fund 2026. The Ecosystem Fund is a key component of the Black Entrepreneurship Program (BEP), an initiative which aims to break down barriers and create opportunities for Black entrepreneurs. It strengthens the Black entrepreneurship ecosystem by supporting Black-led not-for-profit organizations to deliver high-impact business services from mentorship and networking to training, outreach and capacity building.
With funding through 2030, the Ecosystem Fund will continue to empower Black entrepreneurs and business owners and support their long-term success – helping to contribute to a stronger Canadian economy.
Funding
- The funding amount is normally between $125,000 and a maximum of $3 million per project in non-repayable contribution funding.
Eligibility
To be eligible, your organization must be:
- An incorporated not-for-profit organization in Canada or Ontario that operates in southern Ontario whose primary focus is to support businesses and/or community economic development.
- A Black-led not-for-profit organization that demonstrates all of the following criteria:
- Minimum two-thirds of leadership positions (directors, founders, etc.) in the organization are occupied primarily by people who self-identify as Black.
- A governance structure (volunteer committee, advisory board, eldership circle, etc.), which is composed primarily of people who self-identify as Black (minimum two-thirds of positions).
- A mandate, activities and outcomes that are focused on supporting members of Black communities.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver business support services and reach the Black community.
