Applications are open for the DAAD-NRF Joint Scholarship Programme South Africa 2026. Together with the National Research Foundation (NRF) in South Africa, the DAAD awards funding opportunities for Master and PhD degrees at South African Universities to South African citizens or permanent South African residents as part of its In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme.
NRF-DAAD In-Country Scholarship holders are eligible for exciting funding and networking opportunities in addition to the scholarship they have received for their full-time Master or PhD degree in South Africa. The NRF-DAAD In-Country Scholarship is especially interesting to applicants who would like to gain research experience in South Africa and in Germany.
Benefits
- ZAR 80.000,- p.a. for Master’s
- ZAR 110.000,- p.a. for PhD
Eligibility
- Open to South African nationals or permanent residents.
- Female applicants are especially encouraged to apply.
Application
Applications have to be submitted to NRF only. Applications submitted elsewhere will not be considered. Final selection is made by a panel consisting of university professors and representatives of both NRF and DAAD. Successful candidates will be informed through NRF.
