Dahdaleh Global Health Graduate Scholarship Program 2026 (up to $30,000 CAD)

Applications are open for the Dahdaleh Global Health Graduate Scholarship Program 2026. The Dahdaleh Global Health Graduate Scholarship was created to attract exceptional incoming and continuing domestic and international graduate research students to the Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research. These scholarships will support graduate research and related scholarly and creative activities in line with the three themes of the Institute (planetary health, global health and humanitarianism, and global health foresighting). The scholarship will be granted annually to graduate students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement in global health research.

Scholarship recipients will:

  • be named “Dahdaleh Graduate Global Health Scholars” at the Dahdaleh Institute;
  • attend and participate in the Dahdaleh Institute’s weekly global health graduate seminars;
  • present on their graduate work at least once per year, preferably at the Dahdaleh Global Health Graduate Scholars Symposium, or at other suitable venues;
  • receive occasional invitations to participate in workshops and special events at the Dahdaleh Institute; and
  • have access to the Dahdaleh Institute open workspace.

Scholarship

  • Based on the availability of funds and the excellence and needs of applicants, annual scholarships for individual students will range from $5,000 to $30,000 CAD.

Eligibility

The scholarship will be awarded to master’s or doctoral students entering or continuing in a graduate program in the following Faculties at York University:

  • School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design
  • Education
  • Environmental and Urban Change
  • Health
  • Lassonde School of Engineering
  • Liberal Arts & Professional Studies
  • Osgoode Hall Law School
  • Science

To be eligible, the student will be seeking or in full-time* studies:

  • Be applying for 1-year masters program, up to one year funding; or
  • Be applying for 2-year masters program, or enrolled in Masters 1 (1st year Masters), up to two years of funding; or
  • Be applying for a doctoral program, or enrolled in PhD 1, 2 or 3 (1st-3rd year PhD), up to four years funding; PhD students in fourth year and beyond are not eligible;
  • And plan to conduct global health research that aligns with the Dahdaleh Institute’s mandate and three thematic areas.

*Considerations related to part-time status are made on a case-by-case basis.

Evaluation Criteria

The scholarships will be adjudicated by the Dahdaleh Global Health Research Scholarship Committee based on the following evaluation criteria:

  • academic excellence
  • research potential
  • excellence of the research proposed
  • existing and potential innovation, leadership, and initiative
