Applications are open for the UNICEF Education Cannot Wait (ECW) Internship 2026. Under the guidance of the Director of ECW and the direct supervision of ECW Monitoring and Evaluation staff, the interns provide technical M&E, reporting, communications and operational support for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating qualitative and quantitative data and analysis, while learning about organizational processes that enable implementation of the ECW workplan.

Specifically, the interns will be given a portfolio of ECW-supported programmes based on geographical locations, language ability, interests and/or thematic expertise. They will review, code, and analyze annual/final reports from those programmes as well as qualitative and quantitative datasets to support the production of ECW’s 2025 annual results report. Interns may also support other initiatives led by the M&E team related to monitoring, evaluation, learning and knowledge sharing.

Benefits

  • Interns will receive a stipend based on their location. USD 1,700 per month in the following offices: New York, Geneva, and Copenhagen; or 70% of the monthly salary of the GS level 3 step 1 in all other the duty stations.

Eligibility

  • Be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
  • Be enrolled in a master’s degree programme or have graduated from a bachelor’s or master’s degree within the past three years.
  • Have an academic background in any of the following:
    • Education, international humanitarian/development and/or social sciences.
    • Quantitative and or qualitative data analysis skills: data cleaning and management, analysis, impact evaluation, applied statistics (using R, STATA, Excel, Power Query, Kobo).
  • Have academic or professional experience in any of the following:
    • Synthesizing information and drafting global level reports in English, preferably in education or education in emergency matters.
    • Analytic skills (solid experience using Excel is required, candidates with experience using R, PowerQuery, and other data management and statistics software are encouraged to apply).
    • Have lived experience in a low-middle income country. 
  • Be proficient in English (speaking, writing & reading) up to the highest standard.
  • Proficiency in French and/or Spanish is a plus.
  • Have no immediate relatives (e.g., father, mother, brother, sister) working in any UNICEF office or in the ECW Secretariat.
  • Are not disqualified under the UNICEF Child Safeguarding Personnel Standards (DHR/STANDARDS/2019/001), or as amended.
