Applications are open for the Heirs Insurance Hackathon 2026. The Heirs Insurance Hackathon is a groundbreaking initiative designed to leverage technology to redefine Africa’s Insurance landscape. Heirs Insurance invites forward-thinking undergraduates across Nigeria to come together and create impactful solutions that will shape the future of Insurance.

By bringing together top tech talents, industry experts, and visionary mentors, this hackathon will foster Al-driven solutions that streamline customer experiences, underwriting, claims processing, and distribution of insurance products. The solutions developed will help pave the way for democratising insurance, by providing simplified, quick and reliable access to coverage for more a more people.

Challenge

Develop innovative ideas using Artificial intelligence to solve real-world problems in the Nigerian Insurance Industry. Solutions should focus on addressing any of these key areas:

  • Claims Processing
  • Underwriting
  • Customer Experience
  • Product Distribution

Prizes

  • First place winner receives N5,000,000
  • Second place winner receives N3,000,000
  • Third place winner receives N1,000,000

Eligibility

  • Open to undergraduates across Nigeria.
  • All individuals directly or indirectly related to any member of Heirs Insurance Group (HIG) are not eligible to participate in this Hackathon. Such ineligible individuals include but are not limited to, Employees, Directors, Family members, Contractors, Agents, Financial advisors, Consultants, Vendors, and Suppliers of HIG; and any employees or representatives of any entity directly or indirectly controlled by, or under common control with, HIG.

  • Form a team of 3 members from the same institution.

  • Ensure your AI-driven solution addresses one of the four focus areas.
