Deadline: February 2, 2026

Applications are open for the UNOY Internship 2026: Communications Officer. UNOY is a youth-led network of over 120 youth organisations working towards more peaceful societies. They embrace values of peace, diversity, inclusion, and meaningful participation. At UNOY, young people have the opportunity to gain work experience in the field of peacebuilding, join an international team, develop new skills, and connect with young people and organisations around the world. All interns are supported by a supervisor in identifying their personal learning goals, training opportunities, and monitoring progress throughout the internship.

As the Communications Officer, you will work with direct supervision from the Communications Lead. Your responsibilities will include:

Content Production

  • Ongoing creation and day-to-day management of creative, visual content for the UNOY website and social media channels, responding to evolving communications needs across the network. This includes:
    • Creating engaging graphics;
    • Creating and editing videos;
    • Assisting with developing social media campaigns;
    • Identifying, commissioning, and reviewing compelling written pieces for the UNOY blog;
    • Supporting the copyediting of reports and publications;
  • Creating and disseminating regular newsletters to UNOY members, and donors and partners.

Strategic Development

  • Supporting the implementation of UNOY’s recently launched organisation-wide communications strategy for 2026-2030;
  • Supporting the creation and implementation of a new social media strategy;
  • Assisting with the development of an internal Communication Kit;

Advocacy and Outreach

  • Monitoring YPS developments and liaising with UNOY’s Advocacy Coordinator and Officer to align communications;
  • Supporting better alignment of UNOY’s fundraising and communications, as well as Protection + Gender and communications;
  • Supporting communications with external partners for collaborative projects, missions, and events.

Benefits

  • Being fully part of a young, dynamic, and international team;
  • Opportunity to acquire new skills;
  • Opportunity to work independently and take ownership over your portfolio;
  • A great stepping stone for your future career—former interns have moved on to work in international organisations, academia, and the government sector;
  • Possibility to participate in internal and external training opportunities;
  • Possibility to use your internship for studies/research.
  • You will receive a stipend of 500 EUR per month to cover some expenses

Eligibility

They are looking for somebody who has:

  • Experience or a strong interest in peacebuilding, youth work, and communications;
  • Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills (in English); other languages are an asset!
  • Some experience in graphic design and video editing;
  • Some experience in online communications and social media platforms;
  • Familiarity with WordPress, Mailchimp and Canva (desirable);
  • Planning, organisational, and intercultural communication skills;
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, and a problem-solving mindset;
  • Flexibility and capacity to work independently, as well as in a team;
  • A higher education degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) on a topic related to youth, peace, conflict or international relations. They can also accept candidates who are in their last year of undergraduate degree.
