KAS Scholarship Program 2026 for Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree in Germany

Applications are open for the KAS Scholarship Program 2026 for Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree in Germany. The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V. awards full scholarships for a Master’s degree (standard duration: four semesters) or a doctoral program at a university in Germany.

Nationally and internationally, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation is committed to achieving and maintaining peace, freedom and justice through political education. They promote and preserve free democracy, the social market economy, and the development and consolidation of the value consensus.

Benefits

In addition to financial support, the scholarship holders benefit from:

  • Access to an international network of over 15,000 current and former scholarship recipients of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung
  • A comprehensive seminar program accompanying their studies, and the opportunity to organize their own seminars and events
  • Personal guidance during their studies and career planning by the Foreign Student Support team and our trusted university advisors

Eligibility

  • Open to young academics from Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan, Tanzania and Ethiopia.
  • They are looking for socially or politically engaged students and doctoral candidates from all disciplines who can demonstrate German language proficiency at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference.
  • Excellent academic performance and a positive attitude toward democracy, pluralism, and human rights are also required.

Application

Masters Scholarship

The completed and signed application form must be accompanied by:

  • A letter of motivation (max. 1.5 pages)
  • A tabular CV in German
  • Copies of university certificates with transcripts and records of achievement, along with German translations of these documents
  • A reference letter from a university lecturer assessing the applicant’s academic qualifications
  • Proof of voluntary engagement
  • Proof of German language proficiency at level B2 (at least level B1 at the time of application)

Doctoral Degree

In addition to the above, applicants for a doctoral scholarship must submit:

  • A detailed description of the dissertation project (problem outline, planned methodology, work and time schedule) in German or English
  • A reference letter from the doctoral supervisor addressing the dissertation project
  • A confirmation of admission to the doctoral program from the faculty or department (if already available)
