Deadline: February 23, 2026

Applications are invited to join the 2026 Telstra Foundation Youth Advisory Council. At the Telstra Foundation, they are committed to championing young people by actively involving them in their work. As they kick off the second year of the Youth Advisory Council with PROJECT ROCKIT, Telstra Foundation is on the lookout for young people in Australia aged 12–18 from all sorts of backgrounds and experiences. They want to make sure they hear a wide range of voices and identities.

As a part of the Youth Advisory Counci, you will:

  • Participate in regular virtual meetings and discussions with fellow Council members.
  • Co-create, advise, review and provide feedback on Telstra Foundation projects and initiatives, such as the Australian Youth Digital Index.
  • Help shape a research report by sharing your insights and perspectives.
  • Contribute to the development of creative content that gives insight to young people’s experiences.
  • Check and respond to correspondence and requests in a timely manner.
  • Take part in ad hoc activities, events and opportunities provided by the Telstra Foundation, where possible.
  • Engage with and advise Telstra Foundation and Telstra as opportunities arise.

Benefits

As a Council member, you’ll have opportunities to:

  • Share your views on the digital world – what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to change.
  • Contribute feedback and ideas to real projects that support young people nationwide.
  • Create content that speaks to other young people, including videos, stories, advice and creative pieces.
  • Take part in events and media opportunities.
  • Connect with like‑minded peers from different states and backgrounds.
  • Be paid for your time and expertise. You will be compensated at a rate of $40 per hour.

Eligibility

  • Open to young people from across Australia;
  • You’re aged 12–18;
  • Be passionate about tech, creativity, online safety, digital culture, or simply making things better for young people.

Application

You’ll need to submit a short video (no fancy setup required!) answering a few questions about who you are, your strengths, and what excites you about the digital world. Take a look at the full instructions and the position description for all the information you need.
