Deadline: May 12, 2026

Applications are open for the EJN Virtual Workshop 2026 for Thai Journalists Reporting on Business in the Transition to Net-zero in Thailand. EJN’s Business and Climate Media Initiative is organizing a four-day virtual media workshop that brings together experts and experienced journalists to examine the most common climate interventions used by the business sector in Thailand. The workshop will also introduce the policy framework and business context of these initiatives, examine their role in Thailand’s net-zero efforts, and showcase examples of investigative reporting that have helped raise accountability and transparency.

It is expected that at the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Gain a better understanding of the role of businesses in Thailand’s transition to net-zero emissions.
  • Explore four main climate intervention that are increasingly used in Thailand: renewable energy, including electric vehicles, carbon credit markets, ESG due diligence and green financial products.
  • Learn from case studies of investigations into these climate interventions by EJN-supported journalists and partner newsrooms in Thailand and other countries.
  • Gain practical insights and reporting tools to develop stronger, evidence-based stories on the role of the private sector and the solutions they offer to support the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Benefits

  • Participants who attend all sessions will receive a certificate of completion from EJN and be eligible to apply for a story grant to produce journalistic story after the workshop. They plan to award up to 10 journalists with story grants of EUR 1,500 each.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be Thai national based in Thailand only.
  • Applications are open to journalists from across Thailand working in any medium (online, print, television, radio) and from all types of media—community-based, local, national or international. They welcome applications from freelancers and staff journalists alike. They especially encourage women, rural, Indigenous and early or mid-career journalists to apply.
  • For the purposes of this opportunity, they will only be accepting applications in English and Thai.  Applicants must either have a working understanding of English or have a translator available to assist with communication with EJN staff.
  • Applicants do not need prior experience in reporting on climate change but should demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing this topic after the workshop. Journalists with a background in business, economics, finance or related fields are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
