RioCan and BlackNorth Initiative Bursary 2026-2027

Applications are open for the RioCan and BlackNorth Initiative Bursary 2026-2027. This bursary provides financial aid to self-identifying Black Canadian high school and post-secondary students enrolling in real estate-related fields. The RioCan and BlackNorth Initiative Bursary focuses on supporting the black community and helping to make post-secondary education ambitions a reality.

Eligible fields span 28 disciplines, including architecture, construction, real estate development, property management, law, engineering, environmental studies, human resources, market research, economic development, commercial insurance, and more.

Benefits

Selected recipients will receive:

  • $5,300 bursary for university education
  • $2,650 bursary for trades education
  • Mentorship through the BlackNorth Connect Program
  • RioCan Summer 2027 internship opportunities
  • Additional internship placement support through BlackNorth’s corporate network

Eligibility

  • The student must identify as Black (Afro-Caribbean, African Canadian, and/or racialized).
  • The student must be enrolling or enrolled at a Canadian University/College or Trades School.
  • The student must be in their final year of High School or currently enrolled in university.
  • The student must demonstrate financial need.
  • The student must be enrolled in a qualified field for commercial real estate (see bursary details).
