Deadline: June 30, 2026

Applications are open for the Letters to Strangers Youth Mental Health Education Fellowship 2026. The Letters to Strangers Youth Mental Health Education Fellowship equips US-based teachers, counselors, and school administrators with evidence-based tools to recognize, respond to, and reduce mental health stigma among their students – at no cost to you or your school.

This is a year-long commitment. They are selecting 10 Fellows for this inaugural cohort, with priority given to educators at Title I, rural, and under-resourced schools. You do NOT need to have an existing L2S Chapter at your school to apply.

Benefits

  • $1,000 Implementation Stipend: A stipend to support you in bringing the curriculum to life.
  • Complete Curriculum Package: One Teachers’ Handbook (with key vocabulary, activities, and assessment ideas already included).
  • 15 Professional Development Hours: Earn 15 PD hours through structured training and implementation, with a certificate provided.
  • Monthly Expert Sessions: Monthly 1-hour Zoom sessions with mental health professionals, youth advocates, and fellow Fellows, plus optional additional webinars, designed around your schedule.
  • Digital Emotional Literacy Module: Bonus curriculum on helping students navigate AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and Replika safely – they know it’s one of the most urgent and underserved topics in schools right now.
  • Access to the L2S Network: Join a global community of youth leaders, school professionals, and mental health advocates. Fellows are foundational partners in how they scale this work.

Eligibility

  • Based in the United States;
  • Currently working in a school or youth-serving setting with high school-age students (approx. grades 9–12);
  • Open to any school-based role: teacher, counselor, administrator, dean, social worker, school psychologist, or similar;
  • Committed to completing the year-long fellowship and integrating the curriculum into your school;
  • Passionate about student wellbeing. Prior mental health training is not required.

Application

Applications close June 30, 2026 and are assessed on a rolling basis. The will be in touch by mid-July.
