Deadline: On Rolling Basis

Applications are open for the Perplexity Research Residency Program 2026. At Perplexity, they believe that the future of AI will be shaped by the convergence of skills and experiences from diverse backgrounds—not just traditional AI and ML research. Breakthroughs happen when brilliant minds with unique perspectives tackle the industry’s biggest challenges together.

That’s why they are launching the Perplexity Research Residency. They welcome exceptional researchers, engineers, and analysts from any discipline to help advance the impact of AI research. If you’re passionate about shaping agentic systems, developing human–AI interaction, and pushing the boundaries of interdisciplinary work, they encourage you to apply.

Benefits

  • $220,000 annualized base salary.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Perplexity provides immigration and visa sponsorship support based on individual circumstances.

Eligibility

They are seeking exceptional individuals who bring unique perspectives from disciplines outside traditional AI research. You don’t need a PhD or years of experience with deep learning frameworks. Instead, they are looking for:

  • Analytical Thinkers with strong mathematical foundations and proven ability to tackle complex problems in their field.
  • Experts Across Technical or Quantitative Disciplines who understand how people actually work, think, and seek information in their areas of expertise.
  • Technical Depth in your chosen field, whether that’s physics, cognitive science, quantitative finance, theoretical mathematics, or any other rigorous quantitative and analytical discipline.
  • Curiosity-Driven Researchers who are excited about applying their expertise to new domains and learning rapidly.
  • Strong Communicators who can explain complex concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated Commitment—you may be new to AI, but you show technical excellence and genuine drive to build beneficial AI systems.

Application

To apply, include a resume, CV, or portfolio that highlights your technical background and achievements, as well as a cover letter describing your interest in AI research at Perplexity and how your unique experience can add value. You’re also welcome to include an optional research statement outlining potential project ideas.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. You should expect to begin your residency within 8 weeks of acceptance.
