Deadline: September 1, 2026

Applications are open for the Karsh Journalism Fellowship 2027. This is the world’s only fellowship that offers specialized training in Jewish issues to professional journalists and recent J-school graduates. Fellows participate in three intensive all-expense paid retreats — in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C. — engaging with leading journalists, scholars, policymakers, and innovators across the arts, media, and business.

As the world’s only journalism fellowship solely dedicated to Jewish topics, the program is resolutely nonpartisan and grounded in the principles of accuracy, independence, transparency, and accountability. Up to 10 fellows are selected annually to advance public understanding through uncompromising, high-impact reporting.

Benefits

  • Fellows receive a $4,000 stipend and all travel expenses paid.

Eligibility

  • Open to early- and mid-career journalists from all backgrounds, working on any platform.
  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold valid work authorization that permits employment in the United States for the duration of the fellowship period.
  • All fellows must commit to attending three in-person retreats as well as monthly one hour Zoom sessions.

Application

To complete the fellowship, all fellows must publish or produce a reported work on a Jewish topic of their choice, under the auspices of their editor. The Karsh Journalism Fellowship exercises no editorial control over the topic selection or work.
