Deadline: July 20, 2026

Applications are open for the Tsinghua Global SDG Case Competition 2026. Adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, both now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), serving as an urgent call for action by all nations—developed and developing alike—within a global partnership. These goals address critical global challenges, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice.

As the SDGs are deeply interconnected, action in one domain inevitably shapes outcomes in others, demanding a development approach that balances social, economic, and environmental sustainability. Realizing this vision requires the collective synergy of governments, the private sector, civil society, and citizens worldwide to safeguard a better planet for future generations.

In this context, the Tsinghua Global SDG Case Competition 2026 invites students to select a topic aligned with their research interests and expertise to conduct public policy case studies on real-world scenarios. Submitted cases should offer practical solutions for advancing the SDGs or contribute valuable insights to global governance. Participants are encouraged to explore compelling case stories, ranging from grassroots community initiatives to issues with global implications. The chosen topic should facilitate a multi-dimensional discussion while maintaining a focused, well-defined scope. Ultimately, participants are expected to complement a well-crafted case narrative with rigorous analytical insights that reflect solid policy knowledge and strong academic competence.

Prizes

All participating teams will compete for the following awards:

  • One First Prize: RMB¥15,000 for each team.
  • Two Second Prizes: RMB¥10,000 for each team.
  • Three Third Prizes: RMB¥5,000 for each team.

Eligibility

  • Open to currently enrolled undergraduate and postgraduate students (including master’s and PhD students) from universities worldwide, with no geographical restrictions.
  • Participants can compete either individually or in teams of up to four members, with each student allowed to join only one team. Each team must designate a team leader.
  • Mixed teams are allowed. Participants can form teams that include both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Collaboration across different disciplines and departments is also permitted.
  • Case studies must be written in English, and they should constitute original work that has not been published elsewhere, ensuring freedom from copyright disputes.
  • CCCPPM is organizing two concurrent case competitions this year—one in Chinese and one in English. Participants are permitted to register for only one of these competitions.
