Applications are open for the CANEX Junior Chefs Competition 2026. The CANEX Junior Chefs Competition is a platform designed to identify, nurture, and showcase young culinary talent across Africa. This year’s edition will focus on Nigerian culinary talent.
Participants compete through a series of challenges that test creativity, technical skill, and understanding of ingredients and food culture. The competition is part of the CANEX Gastronomy & Culinary Arts’ broader mission to position African cuisine as a global creative, cultural and economic force.

Eligibility
- Be within the eligible age range (e.g. 16–21 years);
- Be based in Nigeria;
- Demonstrate a passion for cooking and culinary arts;
- Possess basic cooking knowledge or experience;
- Have parental or guardian consent (where applicable).
Judging Criteria
The judging panel will consist of an independent jury of four Global African culinary leaders.
Participants will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
- Creativity and innovation
- Technical skill
- Presentation and plating
- Use of local ingredients
- Cultural authenticity and storytelling
