Deadline: August 1, 2026

Applications are open for the Sista Circle Mentorship Program (SCMP) 2026-2027. This is a flagship initiative of Cohort Sistas designed to support the success, retention, and leadership development of historically underrepresented doctoral students in their first and second years, especially Black women and nonbinary scholars. The 2026-2027 cohort runs from September 2026 through April 2027.

Through biweekly small-group mentorship circles led by Black women PhDs, participants will receive culturally responsive support, peer connection, and structured guidance on topics ranging from academic belonging to career development. Mentees will also gain access to monthly professional development workshops and a vibrant community of like-minded scholars and mentors.

Benefits

  • Scholars who complete the full program with high attendance and who complete the program surveys will be entered into a raffle for a $500 gift card or a complimentary one-year membership.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be currently enrolled in a U.S.-based research doctoral program (PhD, EdD, DrPH, etc) in any discipline
  • Be in their 1st or 2nd year of study as of Fall 2026
  • Be able to commit to attending biweekly 1-hour mentorship meetings and participate fully in program activities
  • Have, or plan to activate, an annual Doctoral Students membership — you can cover it yourself ($147), have your institution sponsor it, or apply for a scholarship
