The two-year non-residential Fellowship seeks to strengthen the capability, confidence, and influence of African women scientists to lead and contribute to climate-responsive agricultural research and agrifood systems.

The Fellowship targets mid-career African women agricultural scientists working in national agricultural research institutions, government ministries, universities, and international research organizations in Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Senegal.

Benefits

  • Selected Fellows will engage in a series of activities, including a mentoring program where they will be matched with a mentor and a mentee, and several training courses on leadership and negotiation skills, gender integration in climate adaptation, science communication, and research proposal writing.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are African women agricultural scientists working in National Agricultural Research Institutions (NARIs), government agencies, academia, non-governmental organizations, or the private sector, and currently actively engaged in research, policy, or practice relevant to climate change and smallholder agriculture.

Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold at least a master’s degree in a relevant discipline;
  • Hold a minimum of seven years of experience in agriculture, agrifood systems, gender, and climate-related work;
  • Be nationals of the target countries: Egypt, Morocco, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Senegal;
  • Reside in Africa during the entire Fellowship period;
