Deadline: October 20, 2026

Applications are open for the Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 4.0 2026. The Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.) 4.0 is the fourth funding cycle of the Foundation for Black Communities’ (FFBC) flagship Black Ideas Grant program. Building on the success of previous funding rounds, B.I.G. 4.0 continues FFBC’s commitment to investing in Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-mandated (B3) organizations and groups that are creating positive change in Black communities across Canada.

B.I.G. 4.0 provides funding through three streams to strengthen organizations, expand community programs and services, and invest in community spaces that contribute to one or more of the following focus areas:

  • Combating Anti-Black Racism
  • Improving Social Outcomes
  • Improving Economic Outcomes

Through a participatory grantmaking approach, B.I.G. 4.0 supports community-driven solutions by investing in initiatives that strengthen organizational capacity, improve access to programs and services, and create lasting impact for Black communities.

Grants

They invite eligible B3 organizations at various stages of development to apply for one of three funding streams:

  • Core Stream: Up to $30,000 to support core and operational needs unrelated to programming.
  • Catapult Stream: Up to $80,000 to invest in new or to expand existing programs and services.
  • Community Spaces Stream: Up to $200,000 for capital projects and social infrastructure.

Choose the stream that best aligns with your organization’s needs and stage of development.

Eligibility

To be eligible for funding, your initiative must:

  • Be led by a Black-mandated, Black-led, and Black-serving (B3) organization.
  • Address at least one of the focus areas and align with the Sustainable Development Goals and Social Determinants of Health.
  • Be based in Canada and complete use of funds by March 31, 2028.

Note: Unincorporated organizations or groups may apply in partnership with an incorporated B3 organization.

Application

Applications open on September 15, 2026, and close on October 20, 2026, at 12:00 PM PST.
