Do you want to lead change and drive innovation within your government? The World Bank invites dedicated public servants to apply for the 2027 Government Analytics Fellowship.
The Government Analytics Fellowship aims to strengthen the capacity of government officials to use government data to improve administrative functioning and decision-making. Building on the pioneering Government Analytics Handbook, the Fellowship provides participants with the knowledge, tools, and support to turn government data into actionable insights and develop projects that address real institutional challenges.
Fellowship Tracks
- Online-only: A self-paced virtual experience designed to provide greater accessibility and flexibility for government officials balancing their professional responsibilities.
- Immersive In-person: Designed for fellows who can dedicate substantial time and effort to developing and completing a government analytics project. This track will competitively select a small cohort of government officials with strategically relevant projects who are willing and able to commit to an intensive six-month program. This commitment should be both individually and institutional support.
- Regional hub: Where they will hold more localized fellowships centered around regional hubs.

For the in-person fellowships only:
- Take part in a two-week immersive experience in Washington, D.C., working intensively with World Bank staff, academics, experts, and fellow government practitioners.
- Each fellow receives dedicated mentoring from a World Bank expert in the field related to their fellowship project.
Participation in the World Bank Government Analytics course in Washington DC includes hotel, travel, and subsistence covered by the World Bank for applicants from ODA-eligible countries.
Eligibility
To apply for the Government Analytics Fellowship, candidates must:
- Be nominated by their organizations (up to 2 fellows per organization are allowed).
- Work in a central government organization , including government agencies.
- Hold mid-level management or senior analyst positions (or equivalent), with the authority and institutional support to develop a Government Analytics project.
- Have prior tertiary-level coursework in statistics or related quantitative methods.
- Be proficient in English.
- Present a Government Analytics project with clear institutional relevance and potential for implementation.
For the in-person fellowship only:
- Be available to travel to Washington, D.C., for approximately two weeks in March 2027. Exact dates will be communicated once confirmed.
- Commit to completing the virtual Government Analytics Fellowship course and submitting your Government Analytics project before attending the in-person training. Successful completion of both is required for participation in the in-person component.
Application
Prepare the following application materials:
- A comprehensive CV (3 pages maximum) highlighting your relevant experience and qualifications.
- A 150-word summary of a Government Analytics project you envision undertaking within your organization.
- An endorsement letter from your organization, nominating you for the Fellowship, confirming your position, and demonstrating institutional support for your participation and proposed project.
