Deadline: November 13, 2026

Applications are invited for the Morgan Stanley Sustainable Finance Fellowship Program 2027. The Sustainable Finance Summer Fellowship provides a unique opportunity to work with Morgan Stanley teams that seek to drive capital toward investments that promote sustainable economic growth and scalable solutions to global challenges.

With support from across the Global Sustainability Office (GSO) and the Institute for Sustainable Investing, Morgan Stanley is dedicated to accelerating the adoption of sustainable investing, which seeks to deliver both competitive financial returns and positive environmental and social impact. GSO and the Institute partner across the Firm to pioneer scalable sustainable finance solutions, build new sustainable investing tools and generate industry-leading insights that inform and empower investors.

The 10-week Sustainable Finance Summer Fellowship runs from early June to mid-August and places current graduate students on sustainability- or impact-focused teams at Morgan Stanley. Each Fellow will be assigned to a team based on their interests, skills and Firm needs. Past placement teams have included the Global Sustainability Office, Global Capital Markets (GCM), Private Credit & Equity (PC&E) and Wealth Management Investing with Impact (IIP). This program requires in-person attendance for the full 10 weeks in Morgan Stanley’s New York City offices.

Responsibilities

Fellowship projects will vary depending on which team a Fellow is placed with, but responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting strategic business analysis and detailed industry research
  • Building complex financial models
  • Preparing and delivering presentations in a clear and compelling manner
  • Monitoring and providing updates on market news
  • Researching and analyzing emerging industry trends
  • Gathering and analyzing data
  • Contributing to and/or leading projects that support sustainable investing initiatives

Benefits

  • Expected base pay rate for the role will be $135,000 USD per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include discretionary bonuses and other Morgan Stanley-sponsored benefit programs.

Eligibility

  • Be currently working toward a master’s degree or enrolled in a graduate-level program;
  • Possess a clear and demonstrable interest in sustainability and finance;
  • Be able to summarize and articulate complex ideas effectively;
  • Be a team player and a self-starter who enjoys working on projects independently and in groups;
  • Possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines;
  • Manage multiple projects and stakeholders efficiently.

Application

Submit a resume and, separately, answer the following question in no more than 300 words:

  • What is one sustainability issue or theme that you believe deserves greater attention from investors, businesses or policymakers? Why do you think it is often overlooked, and what are the consequences if it continues to receive insufficient attention?
